How to Ensure Your Website Stays Attractive

published on 11/08/2017

We have upgraded our website with a brand new look thanks to Webdadi Ltd.

There’s a lot to think about when you’re maintaining a web page, especially one that’s in a high competition field like the property market so we wanted to share some of the information we learnt in regards to the importance of having an attractive new site.

Design and Content
The design should make the site easy for a reader to find what they are looking for quickly and the content shouldn’t be over complicated. In fact, it is much better if it is aimed at Junior reading age as this has been shown to be the ideal reading level for a person, especially those who don’t have English as a first language.

Floor Plans
The more information you can provide a potential customer, the better. High-end properties could have floor plans. It will enable your customers to visualise the property and see how each room is connected and the size and shape of the room
It is especially useful for buyers that are coming from abroad as they will have a much better idea about the property before they view. Plans are also useful for properties that might be altered before a new owner moves in. A floor plan will give important information such as the location of load bearing walls and water pipes.

Maintenance
Keeping your website fresh and up to date will also make sure you have a steady stream of visitors. If the photographs you use are still on your website 6 months later and your content is still the same, your website will look stale and unappealing.
Update your content on a regular basis and think about adding a blog. A relevant blog will engage your customers and encourage them to visit your site more often. It also helps with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) as Google can see that fresh content is being added and this will improve your ranking.

Visuals
Finally, use your visuals as these are the most important part of your website. An Estate Agent’s website depends on the photographs of the properties that are displayed. Studies have shown that 90% of the brain is visual and it processes information a lot faster than text. It also generates emotion. And, it’s emotion that helps to sell.
That’s why photographs are important on any website, but of course even more so when you’re talking about selling property. Most people nowadays will search the web before they visit their local agency and so a well-designed, easy to use web site is vital for your business.
It is tempting to save money and do your own photography. But, it’s a mistake. Yes, the office junior can probably take a perfectly acceptable photograph, but when you put it next to a professional shot you can really see the difference.
Why? Because professional photographers know about lighting and angles. Their training and creative talent will enable them to get photographs from angles you won’t have thought about. Lighting also creates mood, which is important if you’re shooting the house and the garden. Basically, a professional photographer will make a mundane property attractive and a beautiful property, fabulous.
